REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Foods and Drugs Control Agency (BPOM) again received Certificate of Quality Management System (QMS) ISO 9001:2008. The certificate was given symbolically by Director of TUV SUD Indonesia, Eric Paulsen, to Head of BPOM, Roy Sparringa, in an event of 'exit meeting' Certification Audit of QMS ISO 9001:2008 in Jakarta.
ISO 9001:2008 was awarded to 55 auditees, consisting of BPOM Top Management, 23 UKP, and 31 UPT BB/BPOM. Certification Audit of QMS ISO 9001:2008 in 2015 was a re-certification activity of ISO 9001:2008 which has expired since obtained by BPOM in 2012.
Roy Sparringa appreciated the performance of BPOM throughout Indonesia, so that it could regain MQS Certification ISO 9001: 2008. According to him, there were some important points conveyed by the Auditors, namely a strong form of commitment, improvement of competence, integrity, discipline, work ethic, and incredible enthusiasm of BPOM.
"Any recommendations and suggestions from the Auditor will be discussed in the National Evaluation Meeting next week in Kendari," he said.
Lead Auditor of TUV SUD, Arie Jufrizal Rangkuti, congratulated BPOM in receiving ISO 9001: 2008. He stated, the audit results showed no major findings, and there are seven recommendations for BPOM.
First, there should be integration between some quality management systems that are implemented, so there will be no overlap. Second, alignment of system is necessary for overall monitoring system.
Third, the function of the MR team in monitoring the management system must be part of the duties, not as an additional task. Fourth, quality objective can be assessed per unit, so that the target can be measured and achieved well.
Fifth, the results need to be followed-up through various approaches, including improve communication and cooperation in the form of MoU. Sixth, internal audit also needs to be improved and monitored by clear technical manual procedures. Seventh, the implementation of ISO 9001: 2008 should be understood by all members of BPOM.
