Switzerland to help Indonesian farmers

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chairman of Switzerland Senate, Claude Heche, said that his visit to Indonesia was to increase cooperation in the fields of economics and politics. However, the main thing was how Switzerland tried to assist Indonesia in agricultural sector and promised to help thousands of Indonesian farmers.

"The cooperation needs to be improved for the prosperity of the people," Heche said, after meeting chairman of MPR, Zulkifli Hasan, at the Parliament Complex Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday (18/11).

 

On that occasion, Heche delivered that has just made a visit to Sulawesi. He said the cooperation that has been done was in the field of agriculture of cocoa and chocolate.

He stated, Switzerland government has helped farmers in Indonesia of about 40 million US dollars. He was glad because cooperation in cocoa farming got support of local government and farmers.

"In the next year between 2017 and 2020, Switzerland will help farmers Indonesia of around 130 thousand people," Heche added.
