REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo conducted a bilateral meeting with Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, in the sidelines of the G20 summit in Turkey. The bilateral meeting was held at IC Santai Hotel, Sunday (15/11).
During the meeting, Jokowi and Trudeau wanted to increase trade and investment cooperation. Trade between Indonesia and Canada in 2014 reached 2.6 billion US dollars.
"I requested that Canada can open a wider market for Indonesian products such as rubber, paper, furniture, electronics, footwear, coffee and tea," said Jokowi in a press release, distributed by Presidential Communications Team, Sunday (15/11).
Jokowi also encouraged Canada businessmen to increase investment in Indonesia. Indonesia, said Jokowi, had issued a variety of economic policy package to improve the climate investment.
"Canadian entrepreneurs can take advantage of opportunities from this condition," he added.
In addition to discussing the economy, Jokowi and Trudeau also discussed climate change and international crime. In the field of climate, Indonesia is committed to reduce emissions by 29 percent by 2030.
