REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- CASR ER commuter aircraft, N219, with a capacity of 19 passengers and two Turboprop engine was priced at around 5 to 6 million US dollars per unit. The aircraft that was designed by PTDI and LAPAN, was expected to fly off in PTDI anniversary in August 2016.

"We sell it in cheap prices, but if the order is a lot, then there will be certain discount," said President of PTDI, Budi Santoso, to Republika, Thursday (12/11).

Budi revealed, an investment to make this aircraft was around Rp 500 billion. All investments, he said, was funded in the country.

There were many investor from abroad who wanted to invest for the manufacture of  N219 aircraft. However, PTDI tried as hard as possible to use funding from the country.

"We want to prove that Indonesia was able to finance its own aircraft manufacturing,"  Budi added.

Moreover, Budi explained, the idea, design and process of completion N219 aircraft was done by Indonesian experts. So this became a gamble on the international community regarding quality and reliability of aircraft production in Indonesia.

Although not yet mass-produced, reservations for N219 aircraft had been done by many other countries. Those countries were Thailand and Canada.
