REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG - PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) introduced the latest aircraft type N-219 in PTDI base, Jalan Padjadjaran, Bandung, Wednesday (4/11).

"The roll out of the aircraft is scheduled in mid-November 2015," said Corporate Secretary of PTDI, Rinie T Pasaribu Prasetyo, Wednesday (4/11).

The N-219 aircraft project was a cooperation between PTDI and National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (Lapan) to present an aircraft for pioneer flight, so that the pilot can perform landings on short runways.

While the aircraft was scheduled to roll out on 10th November which would be attended by President Joko Widodo. The roll out of N-219 aircraft was a process in which the aircraft had been designed as a whole and in the form of original aircraft and it was planned to soon test the first flight in 2016.

He said the initial production process had been carried out on 9th September 2014. Overall aircraft production until it reached final assembly was done in PTDI and designed entirely by Indonesian people.

"Until now, the process of making N-219 prototype aircraft has entered the final assembly," Rinie added.

N-219 aircraft  has a great opportunity to enter the market. It was seen from the market study that showed, number of aircraft with 10-19 seats had gone through 25 years. Those aircraft had an age limit of 30 years of operational and would be soon retired.

"The N-219 aircraft capable of replacing the existing aircraft in pioneer flight," she said.

N-219 aircraft with a capacity of 19 seats was designed to have capability to operate in pioneer area and could reach remote locations in Indonesia. The self-starting could be done without help of a ground support unit.

This was easy to operate in various remote areas and had the widest cabin in its class. Moreover, the operating costs were competitive and had multi hop capacity of fuel tank.
