REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BADUNG -- Four airports were closed until Friday (6/11), following the eruption of Mount Barujari in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). The four airports were Ngurah Rai International Airport (Kuta, Bali), Praya Lombok International Airport (Lombok, NTB), Selaparang Airport (Lombok, NTB), and Blimbingsari Airport (Banyuwangi, East Java).
"The closing of the airports is extended until Friday," said Public Relation of PT Angkasa Pura I Ngurah Rai Airport, Shively Sanssouci, Thursday (5/11).
The closing was based Notice to Airmen (Notam) Number A2479/15, B2685/15, C3472/15 and C3473/15. Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) released the status of Mount Barujari was on Alert Level II.
The distribution of volcanic ashes from eruption of Mount Barujari reached a height of 6000 meters on Wednesday (4/11). Tremor activities around Rinjani continued to occur.
Head of Airport Authority Office of Region IV, Yusfandri Gona, explained there were 692 flights that were canceled during the closing of Ngurah Rai Airport, in the last three days. The details were 372 domestic flights and 320 international flights.
"The total of 692 airlines consists of 189 domestic departures, 183 domestic arrivals, 163 international departures, and 157 international arrivals," he said.
