United States hands over a rhino to Indonesia

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, WAY KAMBAS -- United States (US) Embassy in Indonesia officially handed over a rhino named Hope to Ministry of Environment and Forestry, in Way Kambas National Park (TNWK), East Lampung, Lampung Province, Thursday (6 /11) afternoon.

Hope, a Sumatran rhino, was born at Cincinnati Zoo, Ohio, US. He had already arrived at the Rhino Wildlife Conservation of TNWK, Monday (2/11).

Minister of Environment and Forestry, Siti Nurbaya, would receive the handover of rhino. She would be accompanied by Director General of Natural Resources Conservation and Ecosystems, Tahrir Fathoni.

Head of public relations of Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Ikhwan, said the rhino handover would be done by the US representative to Indonesia.

"The Minister and Director General of Natural Resources Conservation and Ecosystems will be present," he said, Thursday (6/11).

After the handover of rhino, there would be an inauguration of Elephant Hospital. The hospital was the first elephant hospital in Indonesia and Asia.
