Government postpones application of import regulations for certain products

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Ministry of Trade postponed application of Regulation No.87/M-DAG/PER/10/2015 on Imports of Certain Products. A letter of Directorate General of Foreign Trade stated that the period of validity of the Regulation would be revised, from 1st November 2015 became 1st January 2016.

Based on the circular received by Republika, Monday (2/11), there are changes that were made in relation to current conditions that are expected to interfere  effectiveness of implementation of Regulation No. 87 of 2015. In accordance with the directives of Minister of Trade, Thomas Lembong, then the regulations would be revised first.

Directorate General of Customs and Excise was then asked not to apply the Regulation No. 87 of 2015. Previously, entrepreneurs from seven sectors protested against the implementation of the regulations.

The seven sectors included food and beverage, electronics, apparel, footwear, and toys. The regulation was considered to be more profitable for the importer that domestic manufacturer.
