Visibility in Muara Teweh only 30 meters due to haze

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MUARA TEWEH -- Haze from land and forest fires that occurred in North Barito, Central Kalimantan, was thicker. On Friday (16/10) morning, visibility in Muara Teweh, North Barito was only 30 meters due to the haze.

"The haze is getting thicker, the visibility is limited and it makes shortness of breath," said Dadang, a resident of Muara Teweh, Friday (16/10).

Head of Technical Workers of Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysic Agency (BMKG) of Muara Teweh, Sunardi, said that surface visibility on Friday morning was around 30 meters, while the vertical visibility was 90 feet

"The haze is getting worse than yesterday because the wind was in a low speed," he added.

Based on the observation by Terra/Aqua (NASA) satellite, on Friday (16/10) until 05:00 am, there was no hotspots in North Barito.

"We do not know where do this haze came from, because there is no hotspot in this area according to satellite detection," he said.

Meanwhile, Agni Mangala Secretary, Aswaludin also stated that hotspots in North Barito until Friday morning were none, after detected by two satellites, NOAA 18 and Terra/Aqua (NASA).

"Hotspots cannot be detected due to the thick haze covered the area," he explained.
