REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Sudirman Said, stated that President Joko Widodo never asked formally to lower the price of fuel oil. Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources was merely asked to conduct a review of the calculation of the price of fuel.

According to Sudirman, all aspects would be taken into consideration, including the negative and positive impacts if the price of fuel was forced to step down.

"The Ministry was just asked to review the possibility of changes in fuel prices. There was no command to lower the prices," said Sudirman, Friday (2/10) night.

Sudirman also added, not only to Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the President also asked for review to other ministries, in order to see if there was any impacts from economic downturn. It was also as a follow up of two economic policy packages that have been released by the government.

"What I know, the President keeps looking for solutions on how to stimulate the economy," he added.

It was previously reported that the President at the opening of the limited meeting on Thursday (1/10), hoped that Premium price can be lowered.

"Could it be counted again by Pertamina? Is it still possible that Premium price lowered even if only a little?" said Jokowi.

The Government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has decided to hold the price of Premium and solar for the next three months.

During the last six months, the fuel price of premium has not been changed to Rp 7,300 per liter to the outside of Java-Madura-Bali. While, the Java-Bali the price is set at Rp 7,400 per liter and solar at Rp 6,900 per liter.
