REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- General Election Commission (KPU) would not change the election-related regulation, but prepare new special regulations for local elections with a pair of candidate. Commissioner of KPU, Ferry Kurnia Rizkiyansyah, said in the regulations will contain the stages of election process, program, and campaign schedule for the single candidates.

"We (KPU) directly accepted the Constitutional Court's decision by drawing up new regulations to be applied to areas that have only one pair of candidate in the election," said Ferry, Thursday (1/10).

KPU used the time left until 9th December to accommodate the constitutional rights of candidates and voters. Meanwhile, Commissioner of KPU, Hadar Nafis Gumay, said the draft regulations were expected to be completed on Friday (2/10), so it can be consulted and set as a basic reference for regional KPU.

"Hopefully tomorrow (Friday) it could be completed and immediately sent to the House of Representatives for consultation. Simultaneously, we will also conduct a public test on the draft," said Hadar.

Three of the 269 regions, which are scheduled to hold local elections simultaneously in 2015, only have a pair of candidate. The three regions are Tasikmalaya District in West Java, Blitar in East Java, and North Timor Tengah in NTT.
