Mina victims identification process goes on

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MECCA -- Number of Indonesian pilgrims who became victims of hajj stampede in Mina, Saudi Arabia, increased to 41 people. These number did not include the four workers from Indonesia who also became victims in the incident.

Director General of Hajj and Umrah of Ministry of Religious Affairs, Abdul Djamil, said the number of Indonesian pilgrims who died in the incident rose to 41 people or added by seven people of the data that was announced on Sunday (27/9) afternoon.

"The number of pilgrims who are treated in hospital are ten people. It increases by four people of the data that was announced," he said, Monday (28/9).

Head of Work Area of Mecca, Arsyad Hidayat, added that the number of Indonesian workers in Saudi Arabia who became victims, were also increased by one person.

"Her name is Rumiati bint Nomo a.k.a Aminah," he said.

Consul General of Indonesia in Jeddah, Dharmakirty Syailendra Putra, said Rumiati a.k.a Aminah was a backpacker pilgrimage because she did not use services of a travel agency official. He also added that there was one Indonesian workers who was still being treated in hospital.

"A worker, named Asmat Karim was treated in Alwali Security Force hospital," he stated.

Thus, the number of Indonesian citizens who became victims in Mina, reached 45 people. Meanwhile, 11 injured people were still receiving treatment in hospital.

"Victims identification process has still continued until now," he added.
