Indonesia fish production highest in ASEAN

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chairman of the Board, Indonesia Traditional Fishermen Unity, Riza Damanik, said Indonesia fish production was the highest, compared with other nine countries in Southeast Asia. So that, Indonesia was in a strategic position

"Indonesian waters are able to produce 40 percent of fish, that other ASEAN countries," he told Republika.co.id, Thursday (10/9).

In the context of competitive and economic value of fisheries, Indonesia did not have a strategic position, because Indonesia was only in second rank.

Previously, Minister of Marine and Fisheries, Susi Pudjiastuti, said most marine and fisheries exports from China and Thailand were from Indonesian waters. They export values were about 70-90 percent from Indonesian waters.
