REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALU -- The government will build People Farm Centers (SPR) in an effort to boost growth and increase the availability of meat across the country, an official stated.

"The government will facilitate the establishment of SPR in the country," Livestock Breeding Director of Directorate General of Livestock and Animal Health of Agriculture Ministry Ali Rahman stated here on Thursday.

Rahman highlighted the importance of establishing SPR as most livestock businesses in Indonesia are dominated by lower class people.

He explained that on an average, small livestock businesses only had two to three head of cattle. Meanwhile, 16 million head of cattle in existence are being fattened throughout the country.

"We will build hundreds of SPR throughout the country in the future," he remarked.

The program aims to educate breeders on livestock business management, so that it can improve the economy of small communities in every region.

The local governments, universities, and central government will cooperate to facilitate the advancement of SPR.

"We realize that there are no developed countries without well-developed animal husbandry," Rahman added.
