REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Nahdlatul Ulama planned to build a College of Nahdlatul Ulama (PTNU) in all provinces of Indonesia. NU Chairman in education field, Muhammad Nuh, said NU currently has 24 PTNU which was built since 2013.

"If NU wants to be awake in its 100 years anniversary, then NU should strengthen the revival of thought or taswirul afkar and also to build a thought of resurrection of educational institutions," said Muhammad Nuh, Tuesday (8/9).

The former Minister of Education explained that the 24 PTNU are mostly located in Java such as Surabaya, Malang and Sidoarjo. So that, NU wanted to encourage development of PTNU in outside Java, especially in remote areas with limit number of college.

Based on the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER), there are only 30 percent of Indonesian children who get lecture. This means that out of a hundred of Indonesian children, only 30 children who are able to go to college and 70 other are not. This was caused by the lack of number of university.

Currently, PTNU which is in the process of development that is in East Kalimantan. In the next five years, NU targeted to have 50 PTNU.
