REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is scheduled to visit Jakarta on May 14-15, 2025. During his visit, he will receive President Prabowo Subianto and discuss various priority issues of the two countries.
“Indonesia welcomes PM Albanese's planned visit to Jakarta on May 14-15, within the framework of the Indonesia and Australia Annual Leaders Meeting,” Foreign Ministry Spokesman Roy Soemirat said on Monday (12/5/2025).
Roy added that it would be Mr Albanese's first visit since being re-elected as Australian PM earlier this month. According to Roy, Albanese's visit to Jakarta shows the strategic proximity of the two countries.
He revealed that Albanese would later be accepted by President Prabowo Subianto. “The meeting with President Prabowo will discuss improving bilateral cooperation, especially in the economic sphere, including food security, energy, and trade issues, as well as priority issues for both countries with the new government,” Roy said.
“The two leaders will also discuss a range of regional issues and global issues,” Roy added.
On May 4, 2025, Prabowo congratulated Albanese on being re-elected as Australian PM. Prabowo also expressed his commitment to deepen Indonesia-Australia bilateral relations.
