“Waisak is a sacred moment to commemorate three great events in the life of Buddha Gautama. The values contained therein are very relevant for living together, across faiths and cultures,” Nasaruddin Umar said in a press release in Jakarta, Monday (12/5/2025).

This year's National Waisak raised the theme “Increase Self-Control and Wisdom to Realize World Peace. According to Nasaruddin, the theme became a noble call for the whole society to strengthen harmony and tolerance among religious people.

“This theme is a noble call for all of us to unite, respect each other, and bring peace, both in thoughts, words, and deeds,” he said.
