REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Democratic Party cadres should not blame Joko Widodo's (Jokowi's) government over the slowdown in Indonesia's economic growth, Democratic Party Chairman Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) stated.
"Democratic Party cadres should provide solutions to handle the problems being faced by the nation," Executive Director of Democratic Party Fajar Sampurno stated in reference to SBY's instruction on the 14th anniversary of the Democratic Party here on Wednesday.
In his instruction, SBY pointed out that the Democratic Party also experienced economic slowdown similar to the current condition.
"But, we overcame the condition without blaming others. We also took concrete actions," he affirmed.
SBY also called on all cadres to contribute to restoring economic growth by finding solutions in their respective areas. For instance, price stability improvement, prevention of employment termination, and social assistance to the poor.
"Assisting the government is a priority task of the Democratic Party," he remarked.
On Wednesday, the Democratic Party held a simultaneous ceremony across all its representative offices in Indonesia to coincide with the 14th anniversary of the party, on September 9, 2015.
Earlier, Indonesian President Jokowi was scheduled to announce the government's economic policy package at 4 p.m. local time on Wednesday at the Merdeka Palace.
Coordinating Minister for Economy Darmin Nasution remarked that the report on the government's economic policy package was submitted to the president at the Merdeka Palace on Tuesday.
"We have reported it to the president, but the head of state said it would not be announced all at once," Nasution stated, adding that the president will announce the economic policy package containing short-term policies that can improve the economic condition of Indonesia.
He noted that the other economic policy package will be announced next week.
"So, we were asked to choose the actual order in which they will be made public, or which one is to be announced this week, which one in the next week, whichever is later. Essentially, we do not have to explain something too much at once," Nasution affirmed.
However, he was reluctant to furnish substantial details about the economic policy package that will be announced. He only revealed that a massive deregulation package has become the priority of President Jokowi.
"Unfortunately, I have not been able to explain the details as we must first determine which one will be unveiled this week," he noted.
