Indonesian worker killed by her employer in Jordan

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- An Indonesian worker (TKI) from Grobogan, Central Java, was killed by her employer in Jordan. "We got a report that on 15th August, there were incidents in Jordan. A worker from Central Java was killed by her employer," said Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman, Arrmanatha Nasir, in Jakarta, Monday (24/8).

Arrmanatha said that the Indonesia Embassy in Jordan received report from local authorities about the death of 30 years old migrant worker with initial S, who became victim of homicide in Irbid, 92 kilometers from Amman, the Jordanian capital.

"She (S) was quarreled with her employer. She was hit on the back head. An autopsy showed it, and then she died,” he said.

The murder was the wife of her employer who is a member of local military police. Indonesia government requested that the murder case can be followed up by legal authorities in Jordan.

"We've been informed by the Jordanian authorities that the murder had been arrested and investigated," he added.

He explained that the body of the Indonesian worker will be returned to Indonesia on Monday (24/8). “We have notified their families in Central Java,” Arrmanatha said.
