REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The management of Indonesian flag carrier, Garuda Indonesia, will continue its business growth which has been achieved in the first half of 2015.

"We are aware of Indonesian people's concern on our airline company. Our patriotic spirit that appears in the Independence Day is also in line with Garuda Indonesia management's strategy to keep maintaining its business excellence not only in the domestic sphere, but also in the international competition," spokesman for Garuda Indonesia Ikhsan Rosan said here Sunday.

Rosan made the remark in response to mass media reports about Garuda Indonesia which continues to deal with challenges.

"For that, Garuda Indonesia has been making hard efforts to find comparative products to meet its needs by looking for opportunities that can fit its business strategy which will give profits in the long term. We have not confirmed yet, whether it is Airbus or Boeing," he said.

Paris Air Show

He added that the Paris Air Show is an international event for the aerospace industry to showcase the future technological advantages that should be seen by flight business players.

He explained that at the aerospace exhibition, the producers offer their superior products, and it is easier for Garuda Indonesia to make comparisons among the airplanes in terms of types, specifications, prices, and other aspects.

All business decisions made by Garuda Indonesia, as a public company, must abide by the rules established by the Financial Services Authority (OJK), the capital market rules, and other financial provisions which emphasize on the principle of good corporate governance.

Garuda management estimates that in the next three-year time, there will be s a situation in which the global economy still influences the Indonesian national flag carrier.

The management takes the most rational action by consolidating the company?s business group and setting up the operational planning.

"Since the beginning, the Garuda Indonesia management is determined to work hard to make the company more advanced. We have started the first half of 2015 with positive results," Rosan added.

In the first half of 2015, Garuda posted a net profit amounting to US$29.3 million or Rp392,6 billion (at an exchange rate of Rp 13,400 to US dollar).

This figure increased by 114,5 persen over the same period last year when Garuda recorded a loss of US$201.3 million.
