REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BOGOR -- In modern society, education is often delegated to an institution, named school. "In fact, success or failure, good or harm, valuable or worthless of a person are determined by education in the family," said Prof Dr KH Didier Hafiduddin MS, from Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB).

He said that in the concept of Islamic education, the first education comes from family. "Mom is the first teacher, ‘al Ummu madrasah al Ula’. While dad is the principal, ‘ar Rijalu qowwamuna ala an-Nisai’,"said KH Didier, Friday (7/8).

The Dean of the Graduate School of the University of Ibn Khaldun (UIKA) Bogor explained that parents are always coloring education process of their children. "If the family education is ignored, then any education will never be achieved," he added.

Thus, if parents want to give a good family education for their children, husband and wife have to share duties. There are four important keys for a wife.

The first is enforcing the daily salah. The second is fasting during Ramadhan. The third is maintaining self-honor. The fourth is obedient to her husband.

Meanwhile, the duty of a husband is to lead his wife, as Allah said in Surat An-Nisa (4:34), which means: "Men are leaders of women, because Allah has preferred some of them (men) for another (women), and because they (men) has spent out of their wealth."
