REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PURWOKERTO -- Having been independent for 70 years, Indonesia should have been in a better position at present, with regard to Bung Karno's concept of Trisakti, according to a legislator.

"While commemorating its 70th anniversary of independence this year, Indonesia should have been at a better point in accordance with the concept of Trisakti, which includes being sovereign in the fields of politics, economics, and individuality," the speaker of the Banyumas Regional Legislative Assembly, Juli Krisdiyanto, said here on Monday.

He added that cultural and economic colonization should be anticipated through education.

Furthermore, Krisdiyanto expressed hope that cultural education is provided through the teaching of the local language, customs, and manners.

"Culture-based education must be provided because we can enter the global economy through culture, among other aspects," he explained.

Moreover, as part of celebrations to mark Indonesia's Independence Day, the development of Banyumas district has been progressing well because it has been concentrated on the basic needs of the society, such as education and healthcare facilities, Krisdiyanto affirmed.
