REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Minister of Transportation, Ignasius Jonan, revokes the operating license of six airlines because the airlines did not fulfill the regulation of planes ownership. Jonan said that the license revocation valid in 1st August 2015.
The six airlines are Asco Nusa Air, Air Maleo, Manunggal Air Service, Nusantara Buana Air, Survey Udara Penas Persero, and Jatayu Air. “Indonesia airlines must be owned by Indonesian citizens individually, the foreign cannot take bigger part of the ownership,” Jonan added, Wednesday, (5/8).
Planes ownership rules are stated in Law No. 1 year 2009 about Aviation, chapter 118 verse (2) letter a, which requires, the scheduled business airlines should have at least five planes. The planes should support the continuity of business. Meanwhile, the non-scheduled airlines should have one owned plane and two rented planes.
The rules are stated in the Minister of Transportation Decree No. 97 year 2015 about Implementation Guidelines of Planes Ownership. At first, Jonan let the airlines to fulfill the rules until 30th July 2015.
At that time, Jonan gives more options to the airlines that were unable to fulfill the plane ownership rules. The airlines can merger with other companies.
