REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia country branding, namely ‘Wonderful Indonesia’ was ranked as the 47th best branding in the world, by Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index World Economic Forum (WEF).
Tourism Minister Arief Yahya said, all efforts and programs of the government in promoting the branding of the country begin to show encouraging results.
“I’m appreciating the significant increase of the country branding rank from 140th to 47th, this year, from 144 countries,” he said, Monday (3/8).
He is determined to continue the promotion of the country branding, through the inclusion of the ‘Wonderful Indonesia’ logo in different occasions.
Deputy of Foreign Marketing Development, Gde Pitana, said it was one of the proofs of Indonesia efforts in promoting branding.
“This means that we need an ‘awareness’ to make ‘Wonderful Indonesia’ more popular,” he added.
Pitana said that WEF branding rank actually has been announced some time ago and required some indicators.
Overall assessment includes an assessment of tourism competitiveness in general. There are 4 sub index with 13 indicators, such as nation branding, nature, culture, and others.
Pitana added, Indonesia will further optimize the promotion of tourism, especially in international level.
"Since a few months ago our branding aired on international channels, 50 percent of the promotion budget is for country branding,” Pitana said.
