REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Trade Minister Rachmat Gobel said that he respected and supported the police in investigating allegations of corruption that afflicted the Directorate General of Foreign Trade, Partogi Pangaribuan. In addition, Rachmat ensured that the investigation will not disturb the public service in the Trade Ministry.
"We relieve from duty those who are currently being questioned by police and I have appointed Inspector General of the Trade Ministry to become caretaker of Director General of Foreign Trade so that the service is still running," said Rachmat, on Thursday, July 30.
Rachmat said that, with the problem it could be a evaluation materials for the Trade Ministry to improve the possibility of frailty in import rules.
According to Rachmat, the Trade Ministry has issued a rule that says that, if the importer does not have the import license so the products could not enter to Indonesia. If it was carried, then the product should not be dismantled in Indonesia.
Rachmat said that, in the period from December 2014 until January 2015, the Trade Ministry has discipline the thousands of naughty importers.
"To avoid holes, it must be disciplined and need supervision, rules already exist but not disciplined," said Rachmat.
