Minister urges local authorities to coordinate with intelligence

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo said that Home Affairs Ministry was preparing a Regulation (Permendagri) for local authorities in terms of security coordination in the area. It related to an incident that occurred in Tolikara, Papua, on Friday, July 17.

"We have prepared Permendagri which the content is local officials should coordinate with intelligence officials in the region, so there is early detection," said Tjahjo in Home Affairs Ministry's Building, on Wednesday, July 22.

According to him, Permendagri obliged local authorities to always coordinate with the security forces for the early detection so the conflicts will not repeated.

"The case of social unrest can also be detected, there is early detection of BIN, from Kada (Regional Head) as well, although we do not know when the anticipation when the explosion occured," he said.

Regarding the incident in Tolikara, Tjahjo did not going to give a warning to local officials. As well as with the parties directly involved in the case. Because the case was currently being reviewed and handled by authorities.

"Not yet (will reprimand), we also do not want to (give warning), overall we made Permendagri or circular letter, to anticipate related to religious tolerance, including disaster-prone areas or terrorists," he said.
