REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The government will hold a "beauty contest" on the high speed train project to select between Japan and China which proposed to build the projects.

Coordinating Minister for Economy Sofyan Djalil said the two countries already carried out studies of the project of high speed train between Jakarta and Bandung.

"Therefore, it is only for the government to make its decision," Sofyan Djalil said after a limited cabinet meeting headed by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) here on Monday.

He said the government would hire independent consultant froma third country to give an objective assessment.

The government would soon form a team and name a supervisor for the "beauty contest", he added.

Transport Minister Ignatius Jonan said," the government would determine end to end point. Terms of requirement would be made and a reliable consultant would be named to suit the condition in Indonesia."
