Eid passangers at Senen station increase by 40,000

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The number of passengers at Senen train station was up by around 40,000 until Saturday or six days before the Eid reaching 180,273.

"There has been a cumulative increase of passengers at Senen Station," the station's deputy head Oya Santika said to Antara.

He said the number of passengers kept increasing from 15 days before the Eid with the highest number recorded on six days before the Eid at 23,238.

According to data from the station's public relations service until 4.30pm on Sunday a total of 12,320 passengers left from the station using a regular train service and 4,240 others using an additional train service.

A total of 16,560 passengers left the station on Sunday to make the total number of passengers leaving from the station since 15 days before the Eid to 196,833.

Situation at the station was still conducive and it was not crowded.

A total of 88,598 passengers meanwhile have departed from Gambir train station since 15 days before the Eid or July 2.

"There was an increase of five to 10 percent in the number of passengers," head of the station, Edy Kuswoyo, said.

State-owned railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) has predicted the peak flow of train passengers is expected on July 15.

"We are predicting it will possibly be on two days before the Eid," KAI president director Edi Sukmoro said.
