REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANGKALAN -- Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Imam Nahwari said he has no objections to telematics expert Roy Suryo reporting a match fixing allegation to the police.
"Go ahead with your plan to report the match fixing allegation to the police, Mr. Roy Suryo," Nahrawi told the press after attending a national outlook dialog at the Ratoh Ebuh building here on Saturday.
He was responding to the telematics expert's accusation that the semifinal match of the 2015 SEA Games held in Singapore last month, in which the Indonesian U-23 soccer team had competed, had been fixed.
Suryo claimed that there was a conversation on match fixing on the third floor of the Sports and Youth Affairs Ministry's building.
According to the minister, the recording of the conversation on the supposed match fixing was a move to seek fame amid the controversy surrounding soccer in the country.
He further noted that if Suryo, who was the sports and youth affairs minister during the tern of former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, has the capacity, he should use the match fixing allegations to expose the soccer mafia.
As a matter of fact, several issues that Suryo could not overcome during his term have been resolved now, Nahwari remarked.
"We cannot stop (performing our tasks) merely because of a disturbance. The tournament must continue. I also want to express my gratitude to the Bangkalan district government that prepared a stadium to hold the tournament," he noted.
