REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The National Military (TNI) Commander, General Moeldoko said he would evaluate the entire primary weaponry defense system (Alutsista) owned by TNI. The evaluation will be carried out thoroughly start from the year of manufacture.
"How the evaluation is per year. If it needs to be rested, so rested it," he said, in the Attorney General's Office (AGO), on Thursday, July 2.
The evaluation includes hercules aircraft. Moeldoko explained, TNI has six units of Hercules which made in 1960’s. There were eight units which made in 1978. He added that there was still an old defense equipment was fit for use.
Therefore, according to Moeldoko, the feasibility of defense equipment could be used were not assessed on the year of manufacture. Nevertheless, year of manufacture be part of consideration. However, Moeldoko did not want to explain how much the number of old defense equipment that was not feasible function.
"It should not be said," he said.
Moeldoko added, the transport aircraft need to be increased. In Strategic Planning it said that it should be able for two trouble spot at once. By doing so, he continued, the military must have a minimum of 24 long body Hercules aircrafts. Currently, TNI has 24 Hercules long bodies, six were being repaired.
"Moreover, what we face now was made in 1980’s'. There are 78 artificial' and there was made in 60," he said.
Previously, the C-130 Hercules aircraft owned by TNI crashed in Medan, North Sumatra. As a result, all passengers that the majority of civilians were killed.
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in Mako Brimob, Kelapa Dua, Depok, West Java, yesterday said that he has instructed the TNI Commander and Defense Minister to conduct an evaluation of the procurement of Alutsista. Jokowi asked for in-depth investigation related to the crash of Hercules.
