REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Jakarta Presidential Palace held International Day Against Drug, on Friday, June 26. The commemorative event attended by President Joko Widodo and a number of Working Cabinet ministers.

Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) Police Commissioner General Anang Iskandar mentioned, the drug problem in Indonesia was already at serious level. More than 4 million Indonesian people were drug users.

"Not only the lower class people, but also highly educated people," he said while giving a speech.

BNN, said Anang, continued to make efforts to combat drug trafficking. During 2015, Anang said it has uncovered an international network of 42 high-profile drug dealers. BNN also have seized 1 ton of methamphetamine, 6402 ecstasy grain, 8.1 tons of marijuana and set up 100 people as suspects.

On that occasion, the President Jokowi stated the groundbreaking for the construction of a rehabilitation center for drug abuse in seven regions, namely Jambi, South Sumatra, West Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, North Maluku, Malang, and South Kalimantan.
