REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- PROJO, an organization of Jokowi's supporters, has expressed its support for the decision made by the president to reject the revision of the law on the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

"We believe serious and systematic efforts to weaken the KPK have been made by corrupt politicians, bureaucrats and 'black' businessmen to nullify the steps taken by President Jokowi's government to eradicate corruption," General Chairman of PROJO Budi Arie Setiadi told newsmen here on Saturday.

He said, "People are already tired of the behavior of the corrupt and manipulative political elite. We all know that the efforts to weaken the KPK are only aimed at protecting the corrupt elite from being prosecuted over their past misdeeds."

Setiadi, who was a student activist of the University of Indonesia in 1998, pointed out that the Jokowi government was born out of hope for a change. So the political elite and certain parties who wish to spread the crime again are in fact the perpetrators of corruption, collusion and nepotism, known as KKN in the country.

With this in mind, he affirmed, PROJO will mobilize volunteers from all organizations that support Jokowi so they can back the president's decision by stopping efforts to revise the KPK law.

President Joko Widodo turned down the plan to revise the law on the anti-corruption agency under the national legislation program (prolegnas), stating that it was not high on the list of priorities, acting chief of the KPK Taufiqurrahman Ruki said after meeting with the head of state on Friday.

Ruki added, "It will be revised under Prolegna 2016, not Prolegna 2015. I don't know why there was a proposal to expedite its revision, but it is clear that the president has rejected it."

With Jokowi dismissing the planned revision of the law, the House of Representatives (DPR) will find it difficult to discuss the subject, he remarked.
