During Ramadan, tourist in Kepulauan Seribu asked not to wear bikini

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Regent of Thousand Islands (Kepulauan Seribu), Tri Djoko Sri Margianto urged the tourists who visit the Thousand Islands during Ramadan to be able to dress decently.

"During Ramadan, because there are many tourist whom wearing a bikini, we urges them to dress decently. Second, please pay attention for eating and drinking (do not eat on public places)," Tri said at City Hall Jakarta, on Friday, June 19.

Tri said the residents in the Thousand Islands previously requested that tourists were restricted during the fasting month. However, he said that he could not restrict the tourist for travelling to the Thousand Islands.

"Yesterday, they asked to restrict the tourists, I said that I could not, just give an appeal. As the writings on the dock," said Tri.

The appeal was applied on some of the islands which were most visited by travelers. Among them, Tidung Island, Pari Island, Pramuka Island and Harapan Island. Tri said the appeal was targeting both foreign tourists and domestic tourists.
