REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Number of hajj pilgrims of national waiting list in 2020 is estimated at 4.66 million people. With regular quota of Indonesia that annually only 211 thousand people, then queue of national hajj pilgrims on next five years, reached an average of 23 years.
"If it calculated, there is a reduction quota of 20 percent as the last few years, so the number of Hajj line could be much longer," said Director of Hajj Fund Management at the Directorate of Hajj and Umrah of Religious Affairs Minister, Ramadan Harisma in Pondok Gede, Jakarta, on Saturday, June 6.
Ramadan spoke in front of 806 participants of the debriefing officers of Hajj Committee (PPIH) Saudi Arabia 1436 H / 2015. He continued, waiting list of applicants became increasingly long because interest of hajj applicants continued to increase while the Hajj pilgrimage quota is limited.
Based on data of Religious Affairs Minister, until December 2014, the number of Indonesian pilgrims’ waiting list has reached 2.6 million people. The waiting list is expected to continue to rise every year, with estimated in December 2015 to reach 3.01 million people. Then in a row at the end of next year are 3.34 million people (in December 2016), 3.67 million people (2017), 4 million people (2018), 4.33 million people (2019), and 4.66 million people (2020).
"The waiting list is longer, then the accumulated of hajj funds are also bigger," said Ramadan.
Regarding the optimization of Hajj funds, Ramadan said, ministry manage these funds in accordance with the mandate of Law Number 13/2008 on Hajj and its implementing regulations. Based on these laws, the development of hajj funds managed in the form of State Shariah Securities (SBSN), State Debt Securities (SUN), and time deposits.
