REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BINTAN -- Vice President Jusuf Kalla inaugurated a number of tourism facilities on Bintan Island, Riau Islands Province, which are expected to attract more tourists.
"Additional tourism facilities like these will provide better hospitality. I am confident it will not be inferior to those of other places," Kalla said in his inauguration address at Lagoi Plaze here on Sunday.
Kalla said that a good tourism facility should fulfill a number of factors such as infrastructure, hospitality and security.
He said that the government would support facilities needed to developed Bintan into an international tourist resort to lure foreign tourists to visit Indonesia.
"Therefore the government will provide what facilities are needed and the tourism minister will always be present (in an event like this) to take follow up steps because the country has the target to attract 20 million foreign tourists by 2020," the Vice President said.
Kalla expressed his confidence that the target is achievable through good administration system, better infrastructure and services with hospitality.
The newly built tourism facilities could improve the local people's economic growth because of the presence of infrastructure development which could provide more jobs to the locals.
During the inauguration ceremony, a number of cooperation agreements were signed. PT Bintan Resort Cakrawala signed an agreement with PT Pasaraya Tosersajaya.
A definitive agreement was also signed between PT Alam Bintan Lestari and Starwood Hotel and Resort.
A Number of companies also signed investment cooperation agreements, among others between PT Serasi Mandiri Bintani and PT Prime Plaza Management, PT Bintan Pelangi Resort and PY Accor Asia Pacific (Ibis Style), PT Bintan Pelangi Resort and PT Accor Asia Pacific (Novotel), PT Malka Graha Bintan and Dialoog Hotel as well as PT Tata Disantara and Ambhara Hotel.
