REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The meeting of the Executive Committee (Exco) of FIFA in Zurinch, Switzerland, Saturday, May 30, local time, suspended Indonesia Football Association (PSSI) until unspecified time limit.
This decision means that Indonesia could no longer enter the soccer world competition. It was the most serious crisis in the history of Indonesian football.
"PSSI loses all its membership rights and Indonesian teams (national or club) are prohibited from having international sporting contact which includes participating in FIFA and AFC Competitions," wrote an official letter from FIFA on Saturday, May 30.
On the letter, it is explained that the suspension of the PSSI also led to PSSI lost of its FIFA membership rights and its members and officials would not benefit from any of FIFA and AFC development or training programs. But, Indonesian national team could still Compete on South East Asian Games (SEA Games) 2015 in Singapore.
On the imposition of sanctions by FIFA to the PSSI, the Youth and Sports Ministry (Kemenpora) claimed to be liable to perform a number of strategic measures as a consequence of these sanctions.
Deputy V of Harmonization and Partnership Field of Youth and Sports Ministry, Gatot S Dewa Broto said it would soon make a synergy approaches with related institutions to enhance 'blue print' revamping national football within a reasonable time.
"We are moving quickly to obtain a more comprehensive grand strategy, transparent, objective and with a total target of significant achievements in restructuring the management system of the national football in Indonesia," he said as quoted by ministry’s media team in Jakarta, on Sunday, May 31.
Related to competition, Gatot explained, Youth and Sports Ministry through the Transition Team will immediately conduct again various levels of competition both for the professional level and amateur level. It needed to be emphasized, because it was not solely related to the technical aspects of football, but also the social, economic, community and creativity dimensional dynamics accompanying the public good.
"The players are expected not to worry, because the government remains committed to the re-conduct competition with standards and better quality, so that the rights and obligations of the players, coaches and the game can be better fulfilled,” he added.
Sanctions from FIFA was due to PSSI considered to have violated articles 13 and 17 of the FIFA statutes related to the intervention of outside parties in this case Youth and Sports Ministry and Indonesia Professional Sports Agency (BOPI).
Previously, Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi released a freezing decree about PSSI which dated on April17, 2015. The decision was made due to PSSI did not want to follow the decision of Indonesia Professional Sports Agency (BOPI) related to the results of the verification competition on Indonesia Super League (ISL) in 2015, where the two clubs, Arema Cronus Indonesia and Persebaya was not passing the verification.
Furthermore, Minister Imam was forming Transition Team to take over the duties and authority of the PSSI in accordance with the decree of Imam Nahrawi. State Administrative Court (PTUN) on Monday, May 25, received PSSI’s lawsuit against the decree, which stated that the Transition Team to be stopped. Although respecting the verdict, Coordinator of the Transition Team, Zuhairi Misrawi stated that the Transition Team will continue to work to improve Indonesian soccer.
"We have to keep working even though we respect it (the verdict)," Zuhairi said at a press conference on Friday, 29 May.
