REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA --  The Ministry of Research Technology and Higher Education has signed the commitment to initiate the development of science and technology parks in Indonesia.

Minister of Research Technology and Higher Education M. Nassir stated here on Thursday during "the National Development of 100 Science and Techno Park Program Kick Off" that it will support President Joko Widodo's nine-priority agenda called Nawa Cita.

"We will start the development of the 100 National Science and Technology Park Program," he added.

The science and technology parks will be developed to create and boost sustainable economic growth through the implementation of technology.

Moreover, the technology parks will serve as a platform to connect institutes of higher learning with the industrial world and bridge the gap between small- and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs), academics, and industries.

Attending the program's launch were Coordinating Minister of Human and Cultural Development Puan Maharani, Deputy Governor of West Java Deddy Mizwar, representatives from the Indonesia Science Institute, National Atomic Energy Agency (Batan), and university rectors, among others.
