REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- An observer said that Jokowi-JK’s cabinet reshuffle would not be such significant without replacing Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Rini Soemarno. He saw Indonesian economic slowdown occurred because BUMN were not able to sustain economic growth.

"BUMN was supposed to shore up the deteriorating national economy, not a passive or even participate to the worsening national economy," said political analyst of Jayabaya University Igor Dirgantara told reporters in Jakarta, on Wednesday, May 6.

According to Igor, Minister Rini should be the primary carriages in rows reshuffle of Jokowi cabinet minister. "If Jokowi-JK reshuffles [cabinet] without Rini Soemarno, that is no different," said Igor.

He stated that sluggish economy problems arise due to Jokowi considered being too weak receiving input from the economic team of his cabinet.

"It could be because Jokowi forced to make unpopular policies for the sake of the persons of the economic team whom are irresponsible," said Igor.

In that context, according to Igor, Minister Rini was assessed partly responsible because contribute to the policy to increase fuel, which it should fuel subsidies allocated for education, but directed to the BUMN.

Minister Rini which has proximity to the Chairman of the PDIP Megawati Sukarnoputri also has a major influence on the government for bringing in many ministers, when she was in control of the Transition House. "This is worrying, because Jokowi seems imprisoned by his own circle," said Igor.

Igor added, reshuffle options are important to maintain a balance and the popularity of President Jokowi in the public eye which perceived become slump.

"Reshuffle of Working Cabinet later should put 'the right man on the right place', and nullify the minister whom has a ‘hidden agenda' so Nawa Cita program could be implemented correctly," he said.
