REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DENPASAR -- The number of domestic and foreign tourists visiting destinations of historical importance in the city have increased further, Head of the Tourism Office of Denpasar Wayan Gunawan said here on Tuesday (5/5).

"The office launched a heritage city tour package towards the end of March 2015 that invites tourists to visit historical tourist destinations in Denpasar city," he added.

According to Gunawan, most foreign tourists visiting these locations come to the city via the Benoa Seaport.

He stated that since the office launched the tourism program, the number of holidaymakers in Denpasar has been rising consistently as the package is promoted by means of mass media and travel agents, as well as on social media platforms.

On Sunday, May 3, the office recorded 425 American tourists having arrived in Bali by cruise ships. They visited attractive tourist destinations in Bali and its surrounding areas.

"They enjoyed their tour of the Bali Museum, the Jagatnatha Temple, as well as the Badung and Kumbasar markets," Gunawans affirmed, adding that the tourists were also interested to learn more about Balinese culture and philosophy.

He pointed out that of the nine historical tourist sites, visitors found the Badung and Kumbasar markets the most interesting.

"They spent more time in the markets than in any other destination," Gunawan remarked.

The city tour package has attracted more tourists, especially foreign ones, to Bali, particularly to Denpasar city.
