REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAYAPURA -- President Joko Widodo is scheduled to dedicate a number of development projects when visiting Jayapura and Merauke during his first visit to Papua this year next week.
"President Jokowi is scheduled to dedicate a number of development projects and also lead a grand harvest in Merauke district," chief the Resort Military Command 174/ATW, Brigadier General Supartodi, said when contacted to confirm the President's visit from here on Sunday.
Supartodi who is also the chairman of the committee in charge of welcoming the President's delegation in Merauke attended a coordination meeting with a number of officials concerned and representatives from Papua's Cenderawasih Military Command XVII at the state palace in connection with the planned visit.
"In the meeting I came together with the intelligence assistant from the Cenderawasih Military Command and it was also attended by a presidential team to discuss essentially about the planned visit of the President on May 8, 2015 after visiting Ambon," he said.
"According to the preliminary schedule President Jokowi after conducting Friday prayers in Ambon, Maluku, would directly proceed to Sentani airport in Jayapura, Papua," he said.
Upon arrival in Sentani President Jokowi is scheduled to visit Mama-mama market in Pasar Phara Sentani.
"After taking a rest President Jokowi the day after on May 9 would visit Hamadi market to dedicate Holtekamp bridge, an IPDN (domestic administration) institute in Buper Waena and conducted a groundbreaking on the development of a 2020 National Games venue project and an optic cable network," he said.
After inaugurating a number of projects in Jayapura, President Jokowi and delegation would continue to visit Merauke.
"In the city of Rusa, Merauke, on May 10 President Jokowi would conduct a grand harvest in Bapeko, in the district of Merauke and in the afternoon would leave for Manokwari, West Papua, to launch the development of a petro-chemical industry and a power plant," he said.
On May 11 President Jokowi and delegation would leave for Sorong to dedicate a Telkom optic cable network and a national strategic tourism zone.
"In the afternoon the President and delegation will return to Jakarta. That is the agenda and the plan. We certainly have been ready to welcome it and assures its smooth implementation," he said.
