REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The level of public optimism of the government of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in economics, law enforcement and eradication of corruption is quite low. From the results of a survey conducted Alvara Research Center, these three areas even continued to decline in recent months.
CEO Alvara Research Center, Hasanuddin Ali said, the level of public optimism about the condition of the Indonesian economy next year by 74.9 percent. This indicates that the degree of public confidence in the outlook for the Indonesian economy in the short term is not good.
"Jokowi-Jusuf Kalla government should have short-term economic policy package that could directly impact felt by the public," said Hasan told Republika Online (ROL), on Sunday, May 3.
The stability of prices of basic necessities and declining consumer purchasing power should be a major concern Jokowi-JK government. The research results also showed that the middle class economically established to feel the impact of the decline in the national economy.
While the level of optimism of the conditions of law enforcement and corruption eradication condition is also quite low. Optimism in the field of law enforcement amounted to only 57.6 percent. While the conditions to eradicate corruption by 58.7 percent.
In other areas, said Hasan, optimism condition of Indonesian political and security conditions in the coming years is quite high. 64.2 percent for political and 75.3 percent for security condition.
The survey is conducted twice since Jokowi-JK government is formed. The first survey conducted in December 2014 - January 2015. And the survey was conducted on 23 March to 6 April 2015 in 9 major cities in Indonesia to 2,000 respondents aged 20-54 years in the big city.
Among them are Jabodetabek, Medan, Bandung, Palembang, Semarang, Surabaya, Denpasar, Balikpapan and Makassar. The sampling method used was stratified random sampling with a margin of error of 2.24 percent. Data were collected through face-to-face interviews.
