REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) suggested that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) have to immediately reorganize his Working Cabinet (Kabinet Kerja).
Vice Chairman of Kadin Bambang Soesatyo said, he have to reshuffle presidential aides especially in the economic ministerial posts. According to Bambang, the economic team of the Working Cabinet proved to fail to meet public expectations against the government in the first six months of Jokowi leadership .
"The economic team in the cabinet is not sensitive to the aspirations of the people about prices of basic necessities," he said in a brief message on Sunday, May 3.
Due to indifference to the aspirations, member of Commission III of the House of Representatives said it would have an impact on the public's distrust of government. Bambang said, a survey in his note mentioned that 66.6 percent of Indonesian people are not satisfied with the performance of the government in managing the economy.
"The popularity of the current government has drop. Thus, the cabinet reshuffle that has been scheduled by President Joko Widodo should be accelerated by reorganize the economic team of cabinet,"said Bambang.
According to Bambang, the failure of the economic team of Working Cabinet has been noticeable since Jokowi had been changing the policies in the energy sector. The government took unpopular policy by reducing the subsidy quota premium gasoline and diesel in the state budget 2015 and let the vital commodity prices that followed the mechanism of global market.
The impact was felt in the grassroots, even touching the most strategic needs, which are soaring prices of the main needs of society in all sectors ranging from food to electricity and transportation costs.
