Indonesia’s first phase of humanitarian assistance arrived in Nepal

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Director of Indonesian Citizen Protection Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lalu Mohammed Iqbal, said Humanitarian Assistance and Evacuation Team of Indonesian has arrived in Kathmandu with Air Force's B 737-400 aircraft on Thursday (30/4) yesterday.

"When arrived, the team directly handed over the first phase of humanitarian assistance to the Government of Nepal in the form of one ton canned fast food from the Air Force," Iqbal told Republika, (1/5).

Evacuation Team of Indonesian in Nepal has also established a command post, for search and evacuation of citizens in Nepal, in the Kathmandu Guest House (KGH), Thamel - Kathmandu. All Indonesian in Nepal that could reach the search and evacuation post could go directly to KGH. KGH is at the coordinates N 27'42'54.6 "and E 085'18'33,7".

The team led by the Indonesian Ambassador in Dhaka, Iwan Wiranataatmadja, supported the main team of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs consisting of the Air Force and the National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB). In addition, the team also included two members of the National Police DVI (Disaster Victim Identification) team and representatives of THC (Taruna Hiking Club). There are also two doctors from the National Police in order to equip 15 doctors and medical personnel prepared by the BNPB.

In the first stage, Indonesia donated six tons of the most urgent assistance, like hospital tents, surgery equipments, tents, medical equipments, fast foods, medicines, and others.
