REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- A deputy chairman of the Indonesian Commerce and Industry (Kadin) has said the Asian African Business Council (AABC) can represent entrepreneurs' aspirations and facilitate the expansion of their business.

"The presence of the AABC is favorable because it will help business relations or trade ties and represent the aspirations of businesses," Kadin Deputy Chairman for Regional Empowerment Natsir Mansyur said on Saturday.

He said his chamber welcomed the establishment of the AABC because it will reinforce business cooperation between states and businesses.

Mansysur said the business council would serve as a medium for developing sustainable business relations so that investment would continue to flow.

"Business must be sustainable," Mansyur, who is also a businessman, he remarked.

Businessman Bambang Sujagad who is also Kadin deputy chairman for construction and land affairs said the AABC could focus on the big potentials of each country in Asia and Africa.

"The business council will help develop mutual business support," he said.

Sujagad hope the AABC would help strengthen the relations among Asian and African countries in developing common prosperity.

"The business council has the duty to develop its function, vision and mission for achieving a goal for common welfare in Asian and Afrcian countries," he said.

Earlier, a total of 34 countries in Asia and Africa agreed to establish the AABC which grouped Asian and African businessmen to reinforce business cooperation in the region.

The agreement to establish the AABC was reached during the Asian and African Business Summit (AABS) event which was part of the 60th anniversary celebrations of the Asian and African Conference (AAC) at the Jakarta Convention Center, on Tuesday, April 21, 2015.

Kadin General Chairman Suryo Bambang Sulisto said the establishment of the AABC was part of the spirit of the AABS 2015. The AABS which carried a theme "Realization of Asian-African Partnership for Progress and Prosperity" also adopted the New Asian-African Strategic Partnership (NAASP).

The important points in the AABC included efforts to strengthen trade and industry cooperation, eliminate business obstacles, increase creativity, cooperate on infrastructure development, human resources training and strengthen small and medium scale businesses.
