REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAYAPURA -- The provincial administrations of Papua and its neighboring Sundown province of Papua New Guinea (PNG) have agreed to expand cooperation.
On April 21, 2015, officials of the Papua administration met with counterparts from Sundown province to discuss ways of expanding cooperation, Suzana D. Wanggai, head of border and foreign cooperation division of the provincial administration, said here on Sunday.
The meeting also discussed follow up of earlier agreements reached at a border meeting to be implemented this year, Suzana said.
For example, agreement to expand cooperation between the two neighboring provinces, she said.
Under the agreement farmers from Sundown would take part in a farming training in Koya, Jayapura.
"We will invite 20 young people from Sundown to to join in a training center . Boys will be trained in carpentry and girls in beauty class," Suzana said.
Training will begin in May , 2015, she added.
Earlier Papua and Sundown already sign a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in education, allowing students from PNG to study in in Jayapura.
Most of the students from PNG prefer to attend vocational schools, Suzana said.
