Police to deploy three thousand brigade personnel during AAC

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DEPOK -- The Indonesian National Police will deploy three thousand Mobile Brigade (Brimob) personnel to secure the 60th anniversary celebrations of the Asia-Africa Conference (AAC), which will take place in Jakarta and Bandung on April 19-24, 2015.

"Some 500 Brimob personnel will join the Jakarta Police, and 2.5 thousand others will be on standby at the Brimob Headquarters for deployment whenever needed," Head of Operations Affairs of the Brimob Corps of the National Police Sr Comr Leo Bona Lubis stated here on Tuesday (14/4).

To maintain security in Bandung, the National Police will assign some 1,015 mobile brigade personnel from West Java Police's Brimob Corps and 400 others from the Jakarta Police's Mobile Brigade Corps.

Lubis revealed that snipers from the corps would also be assigned.

"We cannot reveal details about the snipers. We have to keep it a secret, but they will be deployed at certain locations," he said.

In the meantime, the Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) will deploy 26,663 officers along with 9.7 thousand police personnel.

TNI Chief General Moeldoko affirmed that the military personnel are well prepared to secure the implementation of the upcoming AAC 2015.

"For ensuring security during the AAC, thank God, we have conducted a technical force game (TFG). Every step was well simulated," Moeldoko stated here, Tuesday.

With the participation and involvement of the Indonesian society, the general expressed optimism that the implementation of the AAC will take place smoothly and successfully.

He emphasized that the security officers will guard the world leaders participating in the AAC.

The Indonesian Air Force (TNI-AU) has deployed 1.3 thousand personnel.

"The security at Ring-1 is handled by the TNI-AU, so we have deployed our personnel there, while Ring-2 and Ring-3 will be handled by the Police and Army personnel," Air Force Chief of Staff Marshal Agus Supriatna remarked after leading a ceremony to mark the 69th anniversary of TNI-AU at the Halim Perdanakusuma Military Airbase on Thursday.
