REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LEBAK -- Hundreds of suspended bridges in Lebak District, Banten, are heavily damaged and need to be repaired to prevent the recurrence of accident, an official said.

"Of the 442 suspended bridges in Lebak, only 82 have good conditions," Entoy Saepudin, the head of Road and Bridge Maintenance Affairs of Lebak's Bina Marga Road Construction Service, said here on Friday.

He said that the damaged bridges should be repaired to avoid the repetition of accident such as that befell elementary school students in Sajira subdistrict sometime ago.

Saepudin said that Lebak District had the most number of bridges in Banten as it has numerous rivers. Thus, almost all subdistricts have suspended bridges to connect its villages.
