REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Jakarta provincial administration will receive an injection of Rp1 trillion to finance the construction of a dyke on the city's beach.

Head of the city water management service Agus Priyono said the fresh fund was given by the Home Affairs Ministry after evaluating the city's draft budget for 2015.

The dyke project is part of the National Capital Integrated Coastal Development (NCICD) program to be built on the city beach area.

"God willing the NCICD program would not be interrupted, Agus said, adding the budget for the dyke is originally funds for other allocations scrapped by the home affairs ministry.

The NCICD project will include program to build Giant sea wall, beach dyke, dam, water pumps , etc.

"However, in the first phase, implementation of the NCICD project will be development of beach dyke, Agus said.

He said the fund would be more than enough to build the dyke which is designed to prevent the sea water from flooding the city especially in rainy season.

He said the dyke will be built along the beach area 32 kilometer long to be completed this year.

The central government and the city administration will be responsible for the construction of 8 kilometers.

Agus said the city administration already set aside Rp200 billion for the dyke project, therefore, the total budget for the dyke is Rpo1.2 trillion.
