REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TANGERANG -- The Soekarno-Hatta Airport police have found 20 bundles of counterfeit US dollars in a black bag abandoned on a roadside inside the airport.
The bag initially triggered a bomb scare, but its examination using a metal detector eliminated any concern of a bomb threat, Soekarno-Hatta Airport's Police Chief Senior Police Commissioner CH Pattopoi said here Monday.
Officers from the Jakarta Police bomb squad then opened the bag and found 20 bundles of counterfeit dollars.
"The bag was immediately taken to the Soekarno-Hatta police station for further procedures," Pattopoi added.
Previously, the Soekarno-Hatta Traffic Police had found a black luggage bag on C2 road and had feared that to be a bomb.
The traffic police had then sought the help of the bomb squad to check the contents of the suitcase.
The Jakarta Police bomb squad of five personnel had then evacuated the bag and discovered counterfeit dollar bills.
