REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDARLAMPUNG -- The province of Lampung reported an increase in its exports of robusta coffee in February 2015 to 13,989 tons valued at US$28.2 million.

The exports rose from 9,101 tons valued at US$18.4 million in the previous month, head of the provincial trade office Feriyana said here on Monday.

Feriyana attributed the increase to sufficient stocks held by exporters to meet contracts with buyers abroad.

He said exports are expected to continue though harvest would take place only in several months to come.

Data at the regional trade office said that Lampung exports both robusta and arabica coffee beans Europe and a number of other Asian countries.

Exports of arabica coffee, however, were relatively small totaling only 13.9 tons valued at US$219,480 in February, 2015.

Lampung is the country's largest producer of robusta coffee with production averaging 100,000-120,000 tons per year.

Indonesia is the world's second largest producer of robusta coffee after Vietnam.
